Support Local Businesses On Small Business Saturday – Shop Downtown This Weekend, 11/30

Saturday, November 30 marks the third annual Small Business Saturday.

Hundreds of Downtown Missoula businesses are participating in the event that saw $5.5 billion in consumer spending across the nation last year. Small Business Saturday was created by American Express in 2010 to help support local small businesses that create jobs and support our local economy from the base level.

Local businesses are doing their part by promoting and offering sales during the event. For instance, the Hip Strip shop Upcycled (517 S. Higgins) is offering 5% off of total purchase prices with proof of purchase from another small business that day.

"The Missoula Downtown Association and its members value this national promotion because we know Small Business Saturday is intended to promote and support our downtown businesses, who contribute so much to our local economy," said Linda McCarthy, Executive Director of the Missoula Downtown Association.

"MDA has complimented the national campaign by encouraging all of our small business to participate, running local advertisements, and encouraging our community members to shop local this year on social and mainstream media. We are dedicated to raising awareness of the role small businesses play in keeping our community healthy and strong."

"Small Business Saturday has become an integral part of our holiday shopping campaign," said Todd Frank, owner of The Trailhead. "As a kick off for the holiday shopping season, we couldn’t ask for a better event to promote awareness for small business and get customers through our front door."

The Missoula Downtown Association encourages all to shop downtown this Saturday, Nov. 30 on Small Business Saturday. Shopping Downtown is a great way to strengthen your local economy, keep local businesses strong, and support the heart of Missoula. Visit the Missoula Downtown Association’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/missouladowntown) this week for updates, and contact the MDA via email ([email protected]) or phone (543-4238) with questions or requests for interviews.
