Missoula, Montana’s Clark Fork River to get another river wave in 2015 – The Max Wave

Brennan’s Wave won’t be the only kayaker’s paradise in Missoula for long.

The Max Wave is in the design and permit application stages, and will be built on the Clark Fork River next to Osprey Stadium. Organizers are aiming to open it in 2015, Max Wave Board President Jason Shreder said.

"We’re going to push forward and we’re going to get it done," he said. "We’re trying to restore the river to a more natural state."

Surf’s up: Riders hit Brennan’s Wave year-round

It’s late November, surf’s up and the water’s fine.

What looks like Missoula’s own pod of harbor seals has been braving the freezing Hellgate breeze every evening to ride Brennan’s Wave https://www.facebook.com/BrennansWave . Like a benign but dominant new species, surfboard riders have displaced kayakers in the Clark Fork River water park. Sometimes 10 or 12 black-clad people stand in line waiting for their turn on the wave.
