Montana income’s ups and downs: Great Falls coming back after long sag; Billings leads way

The federal Bureau of Economic Analysis started keeping data on per capita income of individual counties in 1969, toward the end of Great Falls/Cascade County’s heyday as the state’s most populated and thriving urban area.
After lagging for 25 years to 2000, the Great Falls area has started to pick up some economic steam in recent years.
