From cooking to ranching: Crowd-funding website brings a wide variety of Montana projects to market
The high-tech crowd-funding source Kickstarter might not be what first comes to mind for a chef and former restaurateur who keeps all the recipes in her head.
But when Carol Cassie and Erin Duffy Osswald partnered to publish a book of recipes from the owner of Great Falls’ popular — now closed –Mama Cassie’s Italian Ristorante, Osswald submitted the project for Kickstarter funding.
"I think people around here feel pretty inspired by projects that have been launched" because of Kickstarter. Every day a few thousand projects land on the site" from people who want to "bring a creative idea to life."

Kickstarter figures it’s only just begun
“I think we feel that this is still the very beginning. Kickstarter has been going almost 4½ years,” said Justin Kazmark, a company spokesman in New York. “A lot of people are still discovering Kickstarter. There’s a lot of opportunity to discover and use the platform. It still feels very new.”
