My Morning with an Astronaut in Montana – Jim "Houston we have a problem" Lovell

Not surprisingly my job, as a television lighting director and commercial director (Filmlites Montana http://www.filmlitesmt.com ) , has brought many famous people my way. I was a lighting director on the 63rd Annual Primetime Emmy Show, where famous icons were everywhere. Lighting feature films, television variety shows, national events and commercials over 28 years has paraded famous actors, musicians, directors, and even three Presidents through my career. However, none of those jobs prepared me for how I felt last week when I spent the morning with Jim "Houston we have a problem" Lovell.

Apollo 13 astronaut Lovell inspires Bozeman High students

Jim Lovell, one of America’s most famous astronauts, told Bozeman High School students on Thursday it was exciting to be one of the first humans to fly to the moon and see its hidden, dark side. But the more surprising and moving experience was seeing the first Earthrise over the moon surface. Alone in the blackness of space, the Earth was the only spot of color, a blue and white sphere, fragile and delicate.
