Montana program encourages investment in preschool

Law enforcement officials in Cascade County are getting on board with an effort to encourage Montana lawmakers to invest in preschool programs statewide to help reduce crimes that drain taxpayers’ pockets.

Great Falls Police Chief Dave Bowen, Cascade County Attorney John Parker and Cascade County Sheriff Bob Edwards have partnered with the national and state organization "Fight Crime: Invest in Kids" to encourage lawmakers to invest in preschool programs which they say have proven to be effective in other states in reducing the crime rate.

"The journey that brought many inmates to this jail did not happen overnight," Parker said.
