Taisei Installs Billings-manufactured Wind Turbine in Billings, Montana!

Taisei Techno America, Inc. has installed their first wind/solar hybrid wind turbine in Billings as a power source for a flashing light system. The City of Billings purchased the system to work at a school crossing near Big Sky Elementary. For 3 years, Taisei has been developing their proprietary technology for a vertical axis wind turbine in Osaka, Japan and in Billings in conjunction with MSUB’s City College.

This hybrid unit, located at 32nd Street West and Canyon Drive, is a pilot project to determine the benefits of using this technology in place of expensive underground wiring of traditional lighting systems. The combination of the wind turbine and the solar panel will produce enough electricity to power the school crossing lights without needing to be connected to the utility.
