Wallonia, Belgium, Success Driven by a Focus on Industry Cluster Excellence

The concept of company networks (clustering) has gained ground world-wide as a new modus operandi of the productive fabric and as a source of innovation.

In order to reinforce regional competitiveness in sectors that show a clear potential, Wallonia decided to develop a policy of company networks back in 2001 in the form of the Walloon Clusters and, from 2005 onwards, Competitiveness Clusters.

(Many thanks to Al Jones who said: "This is a very intriguing set of targeted industrial clusters that Belgium is working on, perhaps the most sophisticated and forward-thinking set I’ve seen anywhere and far ahead of U.S. discussions (which remain mostly shallow talk here while the Europeans are doing quite a bit more actual work on building and networking their existing clusters’ members.)

I expect there’s several or more here you may want to incorporate into your own plans. I know I will.
