‘Prairie Home Companion’ sought for Helena’s 150th anniversary celebration next year

Organizers for the celebration of Helena’s 150th birthday in 2014 say they are hoping to be able to bring "A Prairie Home Companion" here as part of the festivities.

Jim McHugh, executive director of the city’s Business Improvement District, said on Tuesday that he has been in preliminary talks with staff of the St.Paul, Minn.-based radio show.

He said he did not anticipate further discussions until after Labor Day because of the show’s schedule.

"It would be the marquee program," he said of what’s being planned for 2014.
