Portland Incubator Experiment picks seven startups for latest class from 440 applicants

The Portland Incubator Experiment http://www.piepdx.com/ , perhaps the most prominent of the city’s new cluster of startup accelerators, named seven young companies this morning to participate in PIE’s third class of aspiring entrepreneurs.

Founded in 2009 with the ad agency Wieden+Kennedy, PIE provides a $20,000 investment, workspace behind the firm’s offices in the Pearl District, and interaction with 200 mentors over a three-month incubation period.

PIE attracted 440 applicants for its latest class, with 60 percent of the applications from outside Oregon. Only two members of the latest class are from outside the Portland area, though, and just one comes from outside the state.
