Keeping the tourists in town

Tourists — those folks from other places who drive down the road with money falling out of their pockets — are expected to converge on Wyoming this summer in numbers that may surpass the 2012 tally.

Wyoming’s tourism fell off sharply in 2009 after the recession but has been climbing back.

Early indicators suggest a promising summer, said Diane Shober, state travel and tourism director.

Tourism is big business. It is always a leading revenue source for the state and an industry essential for the economy of many Wyoming communities.
