Montana PSC rule could threaten renewable energy projects

River enthusiasts are celebrating the demise of a Madison River hydropower project, but an underlying reason for the demise doesn’t bode well for future renewable power sources in Montana.

On Monday the Public Service Commission will hear public comment on a proposal to reduce the amount of power a renewable energy project can produce while receiving a standard-rate contract from NorthWestern Energy.
