Everest to Elliston, Montana: Area school to join in Skype mountain adventure

Four Elliston students recently "climbed" Mount Everest, the world’s tallest mountain, with explorer Mark Wood.

The Elliston School was one of 10 schools selected from 650 schools around the world to participate in Skype in the Classroom Mount Everest Ascent adventure. Tressa Graveley’s third, fourth, and fifth graders are participating in the experience.

Skype is one of Wood’s expedition sponsors. In February, Graveley wrote to them expressing interest in the program following Wood in his quest to climb the 29,029-foot high peak.

Mark Wood, 47, is a British adventurer and explorer, who last year was the first person in history to attempt to ski solo to both the geographic South Pole and North Pole. His six-month solo odyssey, called The North South Solo expedition, was documented in "My Life in a Freezer."
