Room to roam – Montana Wilderness Association offers 100 free, guided walks

Bear Paw Development Corporation is a private non-profit organization created for the purpose of administering programs to help improve regional economic conditions in Hill, Blaine, Liberty, Chouteau and Phillips Counties and the Fort Belknap and Rocky Boy's Indian Reservations.

In its 51st season, MWA’s Wilderness Walks program offers hikers of all ages and experience levels an opportunity to enjoy Montana’s quiet beauty and wild places.

Walks range from easy day hikes to backpack trips and opportunities to take part in trail building and noxious weeds eradication projects. Details about the hikes such as mileage, level of difficulty, elevation gain and walk highlights are included in the catalog.

All outings are free and open to the public, but reservations are required. Walk participants are encouraged to sign up early, as the walk lists fill up quickly.
