SendGrid fires staffer after her tweet exposed sex jokes – Lawyers say firing hard to defend.
A software developer was fired Thursday after she tweeted a photo of a conference attendee who made sexual jokes she overheard.
SendGrid, a firm that develops cloud-based e-mail service, fired developer evangelist Adria Richards because it doesn’t "support how she reported the conduct," CEO Jim Franklin said in a company blog post.
Richards’ decision to tweet the photo at the PyCon conference last Sunday — a gathering of software developers who code in the Python language — also resulted in the firing of the man who made the joke Richards considered to be offensive and sexist. The unidentified man’s firing was confirmed by his boss, Andy Yang, CEO of PlayHaven.
