Telehealth Helps Boost Access to Stroke Care in Rural Areas, Study Finds
March 21, 2013 /
Telehealth programs can help increase access to stroke care for patients in rural areas, according to a study that will be presented this week at the American Academy of Neurology’s 65th annual conference, FierceHealthIT reports.
A 2010 study by researchers from the University of Pennsylvania found that 54.5% of Oregon residents could obtain stroke care within one hour (Gold, FierceHealthIT, 3/18).
For the latest study, some of the same researchers evaluated all hospitals in Oregon to determine how the introduction of telehealth programs affected residents’ access to stroke care.
