Maclay loses Bitterroot Resort property to Met Life

The family ranch south of Lolo that Tom Maclay envisioned as the base of a year-round resort now belongs to the agricultural investments branch of an international trade financing company in Kansas.

Missoula County Sheriff Carl Ibsen signed a sheriff’s deed over to the Met Life Agricultural Investments assets holding company on Feb. 27.

That was five days after the one-year deadline Maclay had for redeeming his loan from Met Life. The 3,000-acre ranch and home were sold at a sheriff’s auction to Met Life on Feb. 22, 2012.

Met Life foreclosed on Maclay’s project in 2009.
