Funded University of Montana Entrepreneur Interns Available to Businesses – Spring 2013

The University of Montana’s Technology Transfer Office sponsors intern opportunities under Montana’s National Science Foundation Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) program. The outreach and workforce development tract of the EPSCoR initiative aims to provide entrepreneurial students with experiential business opportunities with Montana companies, in turn benefiting both the student and the state economy.

Student Application Process:

A successful applicant will submit a letter of intent (no more than two pages) describing his/her personal entrepreneurial drive as well as experiences and skills demonstrating pursuing of entrepreneurship. In addition, the applicant’s letter must describe a proposed project (scope of work) to be completed during 50 initial hours of work, with the possibility of an additional 50 upon successful progress and approval. This proposed project must describe the potential positive impact on the company and how the work will enhance the student applicant’s entrepreneurial skills, interests, and pursuits. Furthermore, students are encouraged to self-select a Montana company to propose an internship with, or consider applying in response to the company position descriptions posted on the the application website.

All applications received by the date indicated below will be reviewed by committee for a decision regarding funding. Funded internship positions are paid $20.00/hour, which is competitive with other internship programs on campus. The deliverables for a funded project include a mid-project report and a final report including: (1) project summary, (2) the impact of the project on the company or organization, and (3) the areas of personal or professional growth experienced during the internship, as well as the potential impact of these experiences on the individual’s future.
