Power Hour creates academic super heroes – "Having kids not succeed is not an option"

Kids who need a little extra help getting their homework done have a secret weapon in the Boys and Girls Club’s Power Hour, where adult tutors give them help in math, reading and other subjects.

This year, the Boys and Girls Club received $18,000 in grant funds from United Way of Cascade County to help Power Hour remain a place for kids to go not only to get homework help but to learn and make friends as well.

"Having kids not succeed is not an option," said Sonya Smith, executive director of the Boys and Girls Club.
