Great Falls, Montana approves AgriTech Park

Before a packed house of nearly 100 people, city commissioners Wednesday voted 5-0 to annex into the city Phase I of a new AgriTech Park south of Giant Springs State Park.

Then, in a surprise move, commissioners voted 5-0 to start the ball rolling to rezone the 196-acre park, proposed by the Great Falls Development Authority http://www.gfdevelopment.org/ , as a special-category Planned Unit Development.

The PUD designation would include various requirements for the development that have already been proposed by the GFDA for the area.

GFDA board member Cheryl Crawley said the project represents "balanced development" that could help broaden the tax base and mean more jobs for residents. She added it could also help local schools; she serves as School District 1’s superintendent in Great Falls.
