Turning Forests into Carbon Banks

More and more cities are using forests to absorb carbon dioxide and offset greenhouse gas emissions.
Around the country, communities, farmers, ranchers and other landowners are earning extra cash by taking advantage of a fledgling market for carbon sequestration offsets. They’re signing long-term commitments to store carbon in forests and grasslands; earning credits they can sell to industries and other ventures looking for "offsets" to mitigate their own carbon emissions.
