Thinking Outside the (Fuse) Box – Yellowstone Electric has thrived for 75 years by looking outside comfort zone

"Change or die" is the mantra of modern business consultants.

Over the past 75 years, Yellowstone Electric Co. http://www.yellowstoneelectric.com/ has evolved from one electrician installing street lights to wiring homes, industrial plants and some of Billings’ tallest office buildings, including the Crowne Plaza and First Interstate Bank.

A decade ago, the company left its comfort zone again by moving into hydro-electric projects while competitors chiefly pursued wind, natural gas, oil and coal opportunities.
