As a startup business trying to expand on a limited marketing budget, a well-placed story in the press or blogosphere can help you to gain recognition across broader audiences and land new business.

This series of presentations & discussions will focus on how to define the story you have to tell and present it with news appeal for the media. We’ll also look at the core components of a successful PR communications plan and we’ll conclude with an open discussion on how to understand and work with the media.

Roundtable #1:

Defining and pitching your story.

This discussion will cover how to identify what makes your company standout. The story components that define your business, what differentiates you from the rest, and how to make news with your story.

Mike is a strategic public relations consultant with over 15 years of experience telling stories through the press about innovative technologies from top high-tech brands, including Microsoft and Dell. He has specialized in bringing emerging products to market by building a groundswell of third party support and anticipation.

The Innovation Initiative is a cooperative effort between Missoula Economic Partnership, The University of Montana Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program and Hellgate Venture Network.

We pair entrepreneurs who have innovative ideas with the resources, insight and expertise they need to turn those ideas into real, life-and-blood companies. This collaborative program provides a wide variety of entrepreneurial assistance, free.
