Montana Career Opportunity – Weblogic and JBOSS Administrator, Arrow Solutions Group

Under general direction of manager and technical leadership of other experienced team members, perform web server, Weblogic and JBOSS administration and system management tasks including: installation, configuration, logical and physical design, backup/restore, core services configuration and support. Work with other technical team members that may consist of Project Managers, Developers, DBAs, Systems Administrators and other Core Services Application administrators to develop technical action plans and project schedules for deployment. Maintain and investigate performance improvement of java applications. Insure compliance with strategic architecture and general computer controls.

This is a 2 month contract in Billings.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Install, maintain and troubleshoot core service applications.

2. Implement and maintain security administration for the core service environment.

3. Perform Weblogic, JBOSSand Web server administration, change control and space management in the environments.

4. Implement core services application backup and recovery processes including support of the annual Disaster Recovery exercise.

5. Perform monitoring and proactive management to prevent service interruptions, consistency checking.

6. Oversee and perform Weblogic, JBOSS and Web Server installation and configuration of instance parameters for optimization.

7. Schedule and perform Core Service application upgrades and support code deployments.

8. Establish and maintain appropriate access permissions for the Weblogic, JBOSS and Web Server environment.

9. Develop and maintain a comprehensive inventory/library of support documentation and procedures.

10. Conduct software audits of the software products for compliance with established standards, policies, configuration guidelines and procedures.

11. Troubleshoot and support deployment issues in development, test and production environments. Provide after hours support and extended support when required to meet project deadlines.

12. Monitor and administer performance tuning, including management of storage requirements and network requirements.

13. Design and implement improved methods and tools for troubleshooting, problem research and open systems utilization. Automate repetitive administrative tasks.

14. Interact with end users (including Corp IS) to troubleshoot reported problems or to perform required system maintenance activities.

15. Develop documentation including operations manuals, procedures and problem resolution.

16. Escalate problems to management and/or vendors in a timely fashion.

17. Develop techniques and implement resolution of problems based on root cause analysis.

18. Participate in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

19. Paricipate in Research & Development activities and implementation strategies for enterprise initiatives.

SCOPE

This position is the mid-level technical position in the Core Services job family. The primary interaction of the Senior System Administrator is with the Director of Core Services, Lead System Administrators, other OST team members, other Corporate IS and business groups.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Minimum 6-8 years experience on multiple hardware platforms and operating systems (UNIX, Linux, Windows)–UNIX Weblogic Administration is preferred. Minimum 5 years as a Weblogic administrator. Previous experience in Open Systems environment is essential.

2. Expert knowledge of Weblogic and web server administration in UNIX operating environments. Knowledge of client server technology (application server, etc) and networking concepts; able to provide tech assistance, design and implement improved methods and procedures for troubleshooting and researching problem. Advanced skill level required.

3. Degree in Electronics, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience.

4. Possess excellent analytical and decision making skills.

5. Possess leadership skills and competency to manage a technical workgroup by delegating responsibilities appropriately.

6. Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.

7. Possess outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills.

8. Flexible working hours.

9. Moderate travel with little or no notice.

10. Required to participate in an on call rotation (includes evenings, weekends and occasional holidays.
