Rocket launchers — Butte’s Montana Aerospace Development Association testing facility poised to lift off

The MDT Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program encourages and supports the participation of companies owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals in transportation contracts.

Rocket science is alive and well in Butte, Montana.

So much so, aerospace experts from around the world have the Mining City on their radar.

You can thank the Montana Aerospace Development Association http://www.montanaaerospace.org/ for that. It launched several years ago by bringing a bunch of cast-off equipment from the Mojave Desert to a former industrial site southwest of Butte.

One tenant had plans to use the stuff — but the validity of its science was far from a sure thing.
