Responsible for the ongoing maintenance and operation of existing databases, including the design and creation of new databases. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures related to creating and administering databases, along with possessing a strong SQL language skills, and database design capacity. Assist in the design of multi-dimensional data structures. Provide OLAP using SSAS. Create and manage ETL processes as needed using SSIS.

A key focus for database resources will be the data warehouse/operational data store project. This will include the ETL process development, assistance with the creation of the database, management of the same, and meeting all related business intelligence data access needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements definition and analysis, estimation, planning, design, documentation, development, testing, implementation, optimization, security, maintenance, and monitoring of internal databases.

Act as a development level resource for assisting and answering questions for support services and users.

Collaborate with the development team to coordinate database design, development and define, monitor and adjust project scope and limitations.

May assist with development tasks primarily using C# within Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 IDE.

Assist in the analysis of database requirements of end-users, applications programming and operations.

May be asked to submit recommendations for solutions that require definition of the physical structure and functional capabilities of databases and required data security and backup/recovery specifications.

Provide appropriate documentation for any designs or implemented structures and processes.

May be asked to design and implement various types of reports.

SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Support the efforts of the Enterprise Architect team in maintaining an accurate repository of current database instances, and assist with the "To Be" vision for the IT goals of the company. Will also assist with the development of standards and guidelines for the acquisition and use of database software, and the security and governance of all business information.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university preferred and three to five years experience as a developer and DBA and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Two years of experience in development using Visual Studio and the C# language set is preferred but not required. Experience in development of the data access layer for applications is also desired.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Highly knowledgeable and skilled with Microsoft SQL server 2005 and 2008, and all related toolsets including the use of SQL Server Information Services, SQL Server Reporting Services, and SQL Server Analysis Services. Ability to multi-task is important, with a capacity for thinking at both a high level and low level concerning development projects and tasks. Have experience in the development and management of large data repositories such as a data warehouse or operational data store for an enterprise is desired but not necessary. Knowledge in database management and in database design/modeling, and development. Possess a high level of knowledge and experience with computers and related systems, and be proficient in their use to prove efficiency in all tasks related to the responsibilities of this position.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex technical documents. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information to management and users.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Should possess proficiency of in the development language sets required to perform the responsibilities of this position.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to work with statistical analysis, trend analysis, and other forms of analytical data and calculations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to create complex algorithmic solutions to manage logical business processes.
