Helena, Montana school district hires firm to do technology assessment

Interim Helena School District http://www.helena.k12.mt.us/index.dhtm Superintendent Keith Meyer had four area of focus this school year: bullying, math scores, building community and technology.

Whenever the administrative team was visiting schools technology always came to the forefront, Meyer said.

As a result, he contracted with EduEco Systems http://www.eduecosystems.com/ of Great Falls, to conduct an analysis and technical critique of Helena school computer systems, a study that came with a bill of $14,120. The company looked at the district’s network, email, moodle, library, phone system and wireless management.

Meyer said there is a need in Helena to have a plan because technology has become such a critical component, for both educators and students. There have been rare times that the district’s system totally went down, he said.

"A virus shut down the system for two days," he said. "It completely paralyzed us."
