Wyoming approves $10M in grants to attract data center to Cheyenne
State officials on Monday gave the go-ahead on $10 million worth of grants to lure a proposed $112 million data center to Cheyenne.
Cheyenne is one of two finalists for the data center, which would be owned by an unnamed Fortune 100 company with an international presence, according to a Wyoming Business Council project description.
The State Loan and Investment Board on Monday approved a $5 million grant to subsidize the so-called "Project Summit" data center’s electricity and broadband Internet during the facility’s first five years. The grant would come from the Business Council’s Business Ready Community program; although grants from that program are limited to $2.5 million, Spangler said the cap was waived because the data center offer was a "unique opportunity."
