Wyoming lawmakers say consultants are key in education funding
February 17, 2012 /
Nearly $1.7 million has been spent on education consultants to the Legislature in the past three years, and lawmakers serving on education committees say the cost is essential to the state’s investment in education.
The Wyoming Supreme Court tasked the state Legislature with providing equitable and adequate education funding for all Wyoming schools. Consultants were hired to create a funding model in 2005 and poured money from minerals taxes into education. Lawmakers will consider allocating $1.5 billion for schools for the 2013-14 biennium.
