Montana Career opportunity – Executive Director – Northern Rocky Mountain Economic Development District (NRMEDD)

The Northern Rocky Mountain Economic Development District (NRMEDD) is seeking applications for the position of Executive Director.

NRMEDD is a non-profit economic development organization serving Gallatin and Park County, Montana. The organization’s primary offices are in Bozeman. NRMEDD is governed by a 29 member board that is comprised of public and private sector officials from both counties. The Executive Director will report to a seven member executive board and will work closely with NRMEDD’s affiliated organizations and economic development staff.

While the position description for the Executive Director encompasses all aspects of economic development, the actual responsibilities of the position will be less expansive at least for the foreseeable future.

NRMEDD is an "Economic Development District" which meets the requirements of the Economic Development Administration (EDA). Therefore, NRMEDD must conform to EDA guidelines in order to maintain a significant portion of its financial support. EDA funds are augmented by local cash and in-kind support. Both Park and Gallatin County provide staff support to NRMEDD as well.

At present, NRMEDD is in the process of developing organizational capacity after a period of dormancy. One of the primary tasks for the first half of 2012 will be the creation of a new Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS). The CEDS document is required by EDA and will provide direction for NRMEDD in the future. Due to the fact that NRMEDD is in its formative stages, the District Board is receptive to innovative ideas concerning the organization’s emerging role as a coordinative body for economic development activities in the region.
