Local Chamber of Commerce tied to false ads

Locally, our engineering firm has rescinded our membership to the Missoula Chamber of Commerce http://www.missoulachamber.com/index.asp and encourage others to look closely at what your dues are financing.

Negative Political Action Committee advertisements are in full swing and the 2012 election is 11 months away. The anti-Sen. Jon Tester PAC ads produced by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce got my attention because our engineering firm is a member of the Missoula Chamber of Commerce http://www.missoulachamber.com/index.asp . A portion of our dues go to the national organization. Hence we are members of the national organization and we are paying for those ads.

The ads are blatantly false and totally misleading. I complained to our local chamber (along with several other folks). The chamber generated a letter to its members stating that, while it does not condone the U.S. Chamber commercial, we cannot control our parents. The letter states that we are not paying for those advertisements. They are wrong and their response is a cop-out. They should be actively informing the public that the ads are false and misleading. The mission of the chamber is to bring together Missoulians to progress our city!
