‘Keep Christmas all the year’ for Montana nonprofits

For many Missoulians, Christmas Day is, as the carolers sing, "the most wonderful time of the year."

This is also our community’s most generous time of the year. Between Thanksgiving and New Year’s, those of us who celebrate lives of relative abundance are most inclined to reach out to those who have little or no reason to celebrate. Whether we play secret Santa for kids living at Youth Homes, serve a meal at the Poverello Center, deliver a turkey to the Missoula Food Bank, or write a check to our favorite charity, our holidays are enriched by enriching the lives of others. As Charles Dickens wrote in "A Christmas Carol," even the most Scrooge-like among us are inclined at Christmas to see other people as "fellow passengers" on the journey of life.
