Bozeman, Montana pet supply industry fetching profits despite hard economic times

Practiced hands made fast work of tiny reindeer on the manufacturing floor of West Paw Design, as the pet toys, beds and apparel company prepared for the holidays.

This December has been a little busier than in years past, partly because sales have increased, said Spencer Williams, president of West Paw Design http://www.westpawdesign.com/ .

"In difficult times, there’s a joy to be gained from really doting on the pet. The holidays are a perfect time to do that," Williams said. "There’s a lot of external stresses in life. Holidays add to that, and that benefit of gifting a toy or a bed to a pet really makes somebody feel great."
