56 Montana County Capitol Christmas Trees Now Online

Visit http://www.governor.mt.gov to View the Trees

This year’s 56 county Christmas trees are now not only on display in the Capitol but are also online at http://www.governor.mt.gov. The project, which was started 7 years ago by Governor Brian Schweitzer and First Lady Nancy Schweitzer, showcases ornaments made by school children across the state.

"This project has grown every year," said Governor Schweitzer. "It is an honor to have so many beautiful ornaments made by kids from across the state showcased in our Capitol."

This year’s theme – A Homegrown Christmas, was inspired by the First Lady’s new Nancy’s Garden project. Nancy’s Garden provides a gardening experience for every 4th grade student by supplying grow boxes, seeds, lesson plans and instructions for each classroom. This opportunity will help create the next generation of gardeners growing their own food in Montana. Young students will get excited about studying math and science, engaged in healthy eating, and interested in future careers in our state.

"I would like to thank all the students and teachers who sent ornaments this year and also State Superintendent Denise Juneau and the staff at the Office of Public Instruction for their assistance creating and hosting the website of photos for everyone to enjoy," said Governor Schweitzer.
