Time to curb dueling Montana legislative revenue guesses

The legislative analysts’ number has consistently been lower — much lower — than the governor’s Budget Office number. That lower number ostensibly gives lawmakers license to slash the spending sought by the governor.
The problem has been that the governor’s estimate has consistently turned out to be more accurate than the Legislature’s, putting him solidly in "I told you so" territory at the end of each fiscal year.
