Salish Kootenai College gets money to create new degree

PABLO — Salish Kootenai College has been awarded $2.5 million from the National Science Foundation to help create a bachelor’s
of information technology program.

The five-year award began this fall and is primarily for use in developing courses and facilities and organizing the program, which will
begin next fall; its first graduates are expected in Spring 2005.

The new degree will expand and update the college’s existing computer science associate’s degree.

Officials said the program will include opportunities for certification with Microsoft, Cisco and Linux.

McCulloch to visit Valier, Browning

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Linda McCulloch is taking her "Yellow School Bus Tour" to Valier at 10:30 a.m. Monday
and Browning at 9 a.m. Tuesday to hear firsthand about Montanans’ hopes and concerns about public schools.

The schedule calls for a full day in both communities, touring facilities and visiting with teachers, administrators and students.
