Missoula-based Rivertop Renewables secures $1.5M investment

Renewable chemical company Rivertop Renewables http://www.rivertop.com/ may be one step closer to taking its bio-based products to the marketplace, having secured a $1.5 million investment last week from a specialized venture capitalist fund.

Rivertop has perfected the large-scale production of biochemicals and bio-products made from simple plant sugars, and is ready to take the next step to produce and commercialize several of its first products.

The latest investment from Cultivian Ventures http://www.midpointvc.com/ , a $34-million venture capital fund that focuses its investments on high-technology opportunities in the food and agricultural sectors, will help in that effort, said Jason Kiely, the Missoula company’s vice president of marketing and administration.
