Montana State University online teacher preparation program now accepting applications

Northern Plains Transition to Teaching (NPTT), an online graduate-level teacher preparation program based at Montana State University, is now accepting applications for a group that will begin Dec. 4. Preferential deadline for applications is Friday, Nov. 4.

The NPTT program is designed to help seasoned professionals who already have degrees in teachable areas transition into careers as secondary school teachers. The program leads to secondary teacher licensure, which is the same license as that earned with a four-year education degree.

Since the program is taught entirely online, students do not have to be based in Bozeman, or even Montana, to enroll.

NPTT will be offering three more starting dates in 2011 and 2012, all of which will position students to be teaching in their own classrooms with a temporary teaching license by the start of the 2012/2013 school year. Students who successfully complete the program will be recommended for full licensure by summer 2013.

Individuals who qualify also may become eligible to earn a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction by fulfilling additional requirements.
