Montana State alumnus to give $25 million to MSU College of Business
A Montana State University alumnus announced today that he will give an unrestricted $25 million gift to MSU’s College of Business http://www.montana.edu/cob/index.php . It is the largest private gift made in the history of the Montana higher education system.
The gift is being made by Jake Jabs http://www.afwonline.com/about-us/about.asp , who grew up on a farm near Lodge Grass, Mont., in a home with no indoor plumbing, electricity or running water. Today, Jabs is president and CEO of American Furniture Warehouse http://www.afwonline.com/about-us/about.asp based in Denver, one of the largest retail furniture companies in the United States.

Montana State University went all out Friday to thank Jake Jabs, the rags-to-riches furniture store magnate, for donating $25 million to build a new College of Business, the largest single gift in the state University System’s history.
“Wow,” MSU President Waded Cruzado said, beaming as she announced the donation before TV cameras, Gov. Brian Schweitzer and 100 university leaders, employees and students.

Son of Immigrant Parents and One of Nation’s Largest Furniture Retailers Gives $25 Million to Montana State University in Bozeman for College of Business
Montana State University’s College of Business in Bozeman, Mont., announced today an unrestricted $25 million gift from Jake Jabs, president and CEO of American Furniture Warehouse, based in Denver. The gift is the largest in the history of Montana’s higher education system.
MSU President Waded Cruzado said the university will seek approval from the Montana Legislature for construction of a new college of business on the MSU campus in Bozeman. Ground could be broken on the project in 2013, with construction completed in 2015.
