Montana education seminar touches on region’s needs

Like a broken record, Montana Commissioner on Higher Education Sheila Stearns listened to education seminar participants recite the area’s most pressing needs for training the workforce.

On her annual visit to Sidney Thursday, Stearns heard as participants representing education, business and law-making sectors of the region stressed that what is needed here isn’t necessarily being told to students. "Quite frankly, we don’t have the labor pool educated in the right areas," Montana State University Research Station’s Charles Flynn said, "but they need people with specific talents, and quite often they’re not four-year college."
