Missoula Students Receiving Free, Reduced Lunches Increases Yearly

In spring of 2011 as many as 82% of students in one Missoula elementary school received free or reduced lunches.

Educators in Missoula say more students are eligible and or take advantage of the help every year.

"We’ll probably see another 2 percent increase in the number of families that are receiving benefits. It’s just a really tough time out there right now economically. We want to make sure we’re getting the word out and that we can do everything to help those families," said Missoula County Public School District’s Lesli Brassfield.

From 2007 – 2010 the number of students in the program has increased by at least 2 percent every year.
