The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation (NCOE’s sponsor) has just released The Entrepreneur Next Door, a comprehensive survey of entrepreneurship among more than 64,000 U.S. households. This massive project involved more than 120 researchers and 33 research institutions. The report is chock full of interesting facts such as:

* At any one time, 10 million Americans are actively engaged in the process of starting a new business.

* African Americans are 50 percent more likely to start a business than are whites.

These are just a few of the highlights, and the research project is really just getting underway. Look for more results as the survey effort continues.

Copies of the report are available at http://www.emkf.org/pdf/psed_brochure.pdf.
