University of Montana President Royce Engstrom outlines ambitious benchmarks for the next 10 years

In his first State of the University address, University of Montana President Royce Engstrom outlined a road map for achieving specific, and in some cases, ambitious benchmarks in the next decade, touching on everything from graduation rates to research funding.

The speech was a stark contrast from George Dennison’s recent addresses, which were more globally focused.

Audience members stood to applaud the 17th UM president as he took the stage, and, in a new move, Engstrom followed up the speech with a question-and-answer session as a way to encourage transparency and improve communication.

Engstrom’s speech hit on both short- and long-term goals.
