University of Montana degree comparable in region

The Missoulian noted on June 21 that Montana families spend a higher percentage of their household income to send their children to college than do families in other Western states.
Why is Montana higher than the regional average? The article correctly concludes: Montana has lower average salaries than those same Western states. Overall, the cost of a college education at UM is below the regional average, and we continue to work to keep it that way.
