Businesses across state will meet in Missoula to discuss downtowns

Business owners from throughout the state will meet in Missoula next week to work on maintaining the health of their downtown commercial districts.

International Downtown Association President David Feehan is the keynote speaker at the first-ever statewide conference of the Montana Downtown Forum on Monday and Tuesday. Feehan has directed downtown programs in Des Moines, Iowa, Detroit and Kalamazoo, Mich., neighborhood development programs in Pittsburgh and Minneapolis, and has worked for the international organization for 15 years. He will be talking about national resources for downtowns.

The rest of the forum will cover topics like policy making, planning and design, historic preservation, parking and transportation, management, marketing and funding.
