New Glacier guide gives advice for summiting peaks

J. Gordon Edwards’ mountaineering classic, "A Climber’s Guide to Glacier National Park," http://www.amazon.com/Climbers-Glacier-National-Regional-Climbing/dp/0878421777 established its author as the leading authority on ascending the crown jewel’s rugged peaks.

Filled with sage advice, detailed route descriptions and the one-time park ranger’s own illustrations, Edwards’ guide quickly became the definitive mountaineering manual to Glacier Park, and a fixture in the pack of any serious Montana climber.

"Why reinvent the wheel?" Passmore said. "Edwards’ book is the bible for climbing in the park. I don’t expect it will ever be replaced. What I’m doing here is simply creating an updated guidebook using the modern technology we have available."

Copies of "Climb Glacier National Park" http://www.climbglacier.com/ cost $19.95 and are available at various Missoula area bookstores, including Fact and Fiction and the Book Exchange, as well as at REI and the Trailhead.
