Dorsey & Whitney’s Missoula Public Finance Group Excels and Expands

The international law firm of Dorsey & Whitney LLP is announcing the continued growth of the Missoula office http://www.dorsey.com/locations/Office.aspx?office=22 and its public finance practice.

As a leader in public financing in the state of Montana, Dorsey has closed 191 bond transactions in Montana in the last two years, with a combined value of over $734 million.

Attorneys Mae Nan Ellingson and Dan Semmens are highly regarded in Montana for their work in structuring bond offerings, issuing opinions regarding tax-exempt bonds, and advising issuers and underwriters on related matters. "The Missoula public finance attorneys are also part of the larger 25 lawyer public finance team," Man Nan stated. "As a global practice group we have closed 350 deals in 2010 totaling $4.923 billion, and we are ranked 8th among other firms in the country for the number of deals completed, according to Thompson Reuters."

Jeremy Brown joined Dorsey in February of 2009. A graduate of the New York University School of Law, Jeremy’s public finance work involves issuer representation in an array of public financings for state and city governments, and special districts. He previously practiced at K&L Gates in Seattle.

Erin McCrady joined Dorsey’s public finance group in June of 2010. Erin acts as bond counsel to state and local governments and associated political subdivisions. Graduating summa cum laude from the Syracuse University Law School, she was a member of the Order of the Coif as well as Notes Editor for the Syracuse Law Review. Prior to joining Dorsey, she spent 10 years at Skadden Arps in Los Angeles and Davis Polk & Wardwell in Silicon Valley and New York City.

Courtney Ellis is the latest addition to the already strong public finance group in Missoula. Joining Dorsey in January of 2011, Courtney is a cum laude graduate of Georgetown University’s Law Center and was an Executive Editor of the Georgetown Law Journal. She previously practiced at Latham & Watkins in New York.
