Rural Entrepreneurship Newsletter March 2011

Last year as we redeveloped our website, we made a commitment to enter the ever expanding world of social networking. We felt it was an important way to connect with people across diverse rural landscapes, to share our work with you, and to facilitate connections among rural entrepreneurship practitioners. We’ve had an opportunity to learn more about social networking – what works and what remains a challenge, what you like and what you don’t, and what drives people to actively participate. Along the way, we’ve tried to listen to you and others, and make changes accordingly. That brings us to our latest decision – to move our social networking platform to Facebook. More and more people have asked if the Center has a Facebook site, and we are committed to being responsive and exploring the benefits of working on that platform. We will continue to encourage dialogue on Facebook using the Discussion feature, and to invite you to share your work with us through Comments and Postings. To get started, we’ve posted the blog we featured in our February newsletter – Opening Dialogue – Positioning Rural America in a New Economic Reality – on our Facebook page under Discussions.
