Montana Superintendent of Public Instruction Juneau Announces Launch of Montana OPI on iTunes U – Professional Development and Classroom Resources Now Available as a Free Download

Superintendent of Public Instruction Denise Juneau announced the launch of a new tool to support educators and students in Montana. Beginning today, educators and students can enjoy free content from Montana OPI on iTunes U, a dedicated area within the iTunes Store (http://www.iTunes.com).

Building on Montana’s education innovations, the Montana Office of Public Instruction on iTunes U will allow teachers, students and other interested users to learn anywhere, anytime. The free content available on iTunes U includes professional development presentations for teachers, educational videos and classroom activities. Content that meets OPI’s posting criteria includes high-quality videos, audio recordings, presentations, PDF documents, and other education-related information.

"We are always looking for new and efficient ways to improve access to teacher training and share lesson plans and classroom activities," stated Superintendent Juneau. "iTunes U is a 21st century tool for a 21st century education. As state Superintendent, I am committed to constant innovation to keep Montana classrooms at pace with today’s rapidly changing technologies."

The Montana OPI on iTunes U site currently has more than 200 downloadable materials and videos.

Continued Juneau, "Changing technology has given us opportunities in the classroom we could have never imagined only a few years ago. Montana OPI on iTunes U is another way we are harnessing the power of technology to ensure that our students receive a quality education and teachers have access to quality resources to enhance their skills and knowledge."

The Montana OPI on iTunes U page has already had 59,718 visitors. One year ago, Montana OPI launched a new website and Facebook page. The OPI website averages more than 3 million visits annually.
