Even with budget shortfall, Wisconsin Gov. signs 2 business recruitment and tax relief bills to encourage job creation

Signing his third and fourth bills Monday, Gov. Scott Walker http://www.wisgov.state.wi.us/ wiped away two years of taxes for businesses that move to Wisconsin and added $25 million in tax credits to a state economic development program.

The actions one day before the Republican governor’s first "state of the state" speech kept up the speed on a series of special-session bills that he says will create much-needed jobs but will also add to the state’s already sizable budget problems.

To underscore that, the Legislature’s budget office reported Monday that the budget shortfall for this fiscal year ending June 30 will total at least $78 million and could rise to as much as $336.5 million, depending on when the state pays up on two massive bills.
